The doctor of physical therapy (D.P.T.) program comprises three academic years of undergraduate study and three calendar years of professional graduate study. The D.P.T. program prepares graduates for autonomous practice within a rapidly changing health care environment. All undergraduate students interested in the D.P.T. professional program should major in exercise science (ES) and seek advisement at the PT/ES program office. Call (716) 829-2941, ext. 403 to schedule an appointment.
Students enrolled at UB should apply to the B.S. program in ES during the fall semester of their sophomore year. Students seeking to transfer from other institutions should apply to the university by December 15 of their sophomore year. Transfer students then submit a supplemental application directly to the ES program by February 1. Transfer students may also be eligible to apply directly to the D.P.T. program. Prerequisites outlined in the exercise science (ES) undergraduate program must be met prior to the start of classes for the D.P.T. in August of each year.
Students interested in the D.P.T. program should follow the prerequisites for ES and year one course sequence of ES. The prerequisites and ES course sequence can be found on page 111.
