Overview

The University at Buffalo offers a variety of support for students pursuing graduate study in the professional health schools, including medicine. While pre-medical studies is not an undergraduate academic major or formal academic program at UB, students can take all the courses required for medical school admission and can further enhance their application by selecting courses from a number of our natural science departments. Advising services consist of pre-professional health advisors, varied pre-health workshops, a pre-health listserv, a website, The "Pre-Health Bulletin" blog, and active pre-health student clubs such as the Association for Premedical Students (APMS) and Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), a local chapter of one the oldest pre-health honor societies in the country. Students can schedule appointments to meet with the pre-health advisors throughout the calendar year. We also provide the services of the Pre-health Committee for a Committee Letter, which is highly recommended by the medical schools. The pre-health advising website contains a wealth of information for students interested in medicine, including recommended courses and a timeline for undergraduate studies and professional school applications.
